Become a member

Anyone who has an address in a community that is served by a Biblio Outaouais Library, is able to join the Shawville-Clarendon Library.

The cost is $3.00 an individual or $5.00 a family and that gives the patrons access to everything the library has to offer. This includes books, movies (both DVDs and VHS), audio books, magazines, access to 4 computers with high speed internet, Wireless internet access, Storytime for children, among other activities and events throughout the year. This small fee is renewable each year.

The Library is part of the Reseau Biblio Outaouais, which serves rural communities in the Outaouais. There are 53 municipalities that share a central database and rotate books twice a year. If there is an item that a patron is looking for and it is not available at the Library, we can request it from one of the other libraries in the network, or if it’s not available there, the request can go nation wide. We have received books from the Vancouver Public Library, as well as the Charlottetown Public Library, essentially from coast to coast. This is all available free of charge to library members.

Museum Passes

Also available to Library members are museum passes to the Museum of Civilization, the Museum of Nature, the Museum of Science and Technology, the Museum of Agriculture, the Aviation Museum, the War Museum and the City of Ottawa Museums, which includes the Bytown Museum, Pinhey’s Point, the Deifenbunker and many others.

Patrons can request a PIN to be able to access our catalogue and using this they can renew their own books, search and request items, as well as update any changes in address or contact information. Our catalogue can be accessed by clicking here.
